First of all, welcome back everyone, sorry that the blog has been down for a while but we are now back and hopefully will be posting with regular articles, pictures and updates.
It has been a strange year for me, with many twists and turns taking me in some unusual directions. With the economy being fairly quiet it has been a good time to experiment and try a few new things. Don’t worry for those of you who are keen passionate collectors of my wildlife work, this will continue as before.
One direction I found myself taking this year was more of a return journey when I found myself once again drawing tribal people. I have had a commission outstanding for some time from my previous expedition to Nepal and it was for an elderly lady of ethnic origin. I have to say, apart from all those apes I have drawn, I can’t remember a drawing taking so long to complete. The detail in this drawing seemed to go on for ever, but as I have always said there are no shortcuts if to getting it right.
I am pleased with the finished piece and it makes a nice companion to the older tribal prints ‘Saharan’ and ‘Akha’.
One thing I can say for sure, is that it has given me a new inspiration and motivation to draw pictures of this type, so watch this space, hopefully there will be more soon.
