A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to draw a clouded leopard. I have not drawn this cat for a number of years in fact the last time was when I released one as a print in the late 90’s. The first time I drew one I decided it was a must to include the magnificent tail this animal adorns in its full glory. The clouded leopard has an enormous tail that has to be seen to be believed, it is considered to be of use as a counter balance for the felines arboreal antics. Anyhow I thought it was time I gave the clouded leopard the full face treatment getting deep into its beautiful huge eyes. I have come close on many occasions to seeing these leopards in the wild once in Indonesia and twice in the Thai jungle, even recording their fresh footprints. It would be an incredible achievement to one day spy this hunter in his natural habitat but I fear this will more than likely remain a fantasy as they are the most elusive of beasts.
For those of you interested I thought it might be nice to post him up on the blog.
